The Technical Objectives and Challenges

This SBIR Phase I will facilitates mapping, assessing, allocating a band/range to customize solutions based on the inputs of self/peer responders- wherein the efficacy of the various primary research interventions determined through purposive-analysis and virtual plug-in across a simulated algorithm will result in ascertaining the ready-feasibility & the quantum and degree of convertibility employing the customized application platform development integrating AR & VR components. This feeds into developing an efficient unique AI and ML based algorithm which reduces risk for future product development and increasing probability for successful commercial introduction. 

Customized Analytics and Individualized reports for Targeted Professional Development

The Phase I work shall deeply analyse teaching practices to identifying gaps/strengths in individual teaching by subjecting them to frequented scenarios.

Building block for repository of learning experiences

Using peer and self-experiences within research cohort-groups, a high impact scenario repository will be built for classroom management, instructional practices, compliance to district policy.

Foundation for Self-Reflection and Focus Group Formation

Deriving useful insights towards focus’ group deliberations listing key enablers and constraints identified along with solution pathways which acts as feedstock for TeachSavvy.

Exploring propensity for Gamification-based modules

Phase I R & D opportunity facilitates ascertaining feasibility for gamification modules for teacher evaluations- practiced by themselves in simulated settings- with elements and levels of achievements and badges of honour across local/state/national participants.

The Phase I Research Design

The Research design employs a Quasi-Experimental (Non-equivalent groups based & Regression discontinuity based). Estimated teachers to be on-boarded 200, (identified from fellowship groups/research groups), across STEM/non-STEM from 7th to 12th grade, representing a fair degree of demographic & institutional diversity- while observing compliances for such research.

The quasi-experimental design leverages the following components towards developing the technical feasibility for TeachSavvy:

1. The Feedback and Confidence-building component

Will draw analytical insights and pooled & segmented inferences from tallied response {with 8 Teacher evaluation models} based on Behavioral and Academic scenarios, benchmarked against several sets of pre-developed continuum metrics aligned to state standards/district mandates- towards soft-simulate the regular/routine to rare situations experienced by the cohort respondents. Post-analysis, the TeachSavvy 2D template will map the respondent’s strengths and improvement areas, linking to multi-dimensional individualized PD modules.

2. The Direct Demographic component

Arriving at weightage-based pooled and segregated assessment-led sub-group profiles linked to: culture, age, experience, social status and other factors on feedback and confidence component of the study- enabling TeachSavvy to determining degree of correlation of teacher effectiveness with societal norms, culture, biases, age and/or teachers' experience etc. and rank these towards matching with simulated priority solution areas.

The Phase I project will also provide professional development opportunities via field trips and Mentoring plan framework as preparatory for a promising Phase II Project.
